I saw Catherine for 3 sessions. Two sessions were dealing with family issues impacting our family run business. In just 2 sessions, I was able to find resolution and peace around family dysfunction. My sense of peace has had a positive effect on the rest of my family. Another session was in my home to resolve tension around a room in my home. After one session, I was comfortable and made some needed changes to the bedroom that made my primary relationship even closer. It’s important to note that I’m a counselor and have been for about the last ten years. As a counselor, it is hard for me to find someone to go to when I need help. It’s very difficult, actually, because of my position. My profession, was helping everybody else. The fact of the matter was that I got to a place where I really needed some help. I’ve been to traditional mental health therapists and I was never able to get past the third session, quite honestly. It just didn’t work for me and I think part of the stumbling block was that I was a counselor and I kept critiquing them and that didn’t work. I wasn’t able to get well that way. Consequently, as an adult I’ve struggled to take care of my own emotional needs and to feel any semblance of inner peace or happiness. I've held strong to the story in my head (and heart) that my life would always be filled with pain and sadness that just doesn’t go away, because of certain ‘facts’ in my life. I’ve done plenty of talk therapy in my adult life, and it’s helped in some ways but the pain and sadness remained. Fortunately I decided to try a Systemic Constellation workshop. I was skeptical, but not anymore. I don’t know exactly how, but I know it’s allowed me to get out of the storyline in my head and get a glimpse of new possibilities in my life and the way I feel.
