Amelie Chance has a BA in Finance and began her career as a financial consultant. After a few years of non-stop traveling, she decided it was time for a new venture. Amelie went on to start a technology business with the most brilliant, yet challenging of partners- her brother and father. As in any small business, she assumed multiple roles including sales, marketing, kitchen cleaner etc. Interestingly, over several cycles of growth, Amelie found the role for which she had the most passion was one that was not defined – an unofficial Dear Abby. Amelie was increasingly approached for advice on personal matters and one thing struck her: the issues that people were not able to leave at home were those involving a broken heart.

Fortunately, Amelie could relate. In the first few years of building the business, she went through an intense divorce. It was that type of break up where she found herself working and then suddenly running to the restroom in a fit of tears, clutching my chest desperate for the next breath. Like many, Amelie realized that coping with heartbreak was difficult to balance with the normal responsibilities of life. Time heals all wounds was the mantra; yet she refused to accept this as the only remedy to this type of pain. Amelie sought a better and faster way to recover and became engrossed in techniques that are rooted in the study of positive psychology.

The technology business was eventually sold providing Amelie the opportunity to work on her passion of writing and healing full time. Along her path, Amelie made a fated acquaintance with her partner Al and, together, they developed a more practical and realistic guide to recovering from a broken heart.
