Sleeplessness Counseling

How do you experience sleeplessness? Do you toss and turn? Do you keep thinking about all of the day’s tasks that didn’t get done? Do you keep thinking about incidents that occurred during the past day that bothered you or that you didn’t handle well, or that someone else didn’t handle well? Do you just keep thinking of unresolved issues? Are there responsibilities that you are avoiding that keep you awake as your thoughts keep turning to them? Do you feel physically unwell? Did you overeat, eat too late in the evening, or have caffeine too late so that your body can’t settle down to rest? You might experience sleeplessness in many different ways, or you may have a particular way that you usually experience of it.

If you are experiencing insomnia, I can help you address the causes and help you learn to get a good night’s sleep. If your nights are restless, and your days unproductive because you don’t wake up refreshed and lively, we can look at what’s causing your sleeplessness and address it without the pharmaceuticals, which only temporarily relieve the symptoms of insomnia, not the causes. Not to mention how addictive they are!

Insomnia may be caused by anxiety, depression, work problems, financial stress, an unsatisfactory sex life, chronic pain, substance abuse or other abuses, or physical illness, or medications you are taking. In fact, most of the time insomnia is related to some other problem, rather than just being a problem in itself. In fact, there may be multiple causes. But once insomnia kicks in, it needs to be addressed. No matter why it started, it’s still insomnia.

In fact, when you learn to deal with the causes of your wakefulness and learn how to set things up so that you know how to have a good night’s sleep.

I have done lots of work with individuals whose lives are being affected by sleepless nights and unproductive days. Rather than taking pills for sleeplessness, together we will explore the root causes and incorporate many effective solutions and skills for getting a better night’s rest as soon as your head hits the pillow.
