Have you lost a job, your home, a beloved pet, a dear friend, or a loved one?
Loss can have a profound affect on your life, whether you experience it as a small loss or a large one, whether you expected it or not. It is important for you to have a support system, help, and understanding in dealing with your loss.
All of us grow older and die. Some of us get sick or disabled and lose our ability to live as fully as we once did. This is another type of loss.
Loss of any kind is a major life transition. Loss is painful. It is important to honor, experience, and release the pain of a loss. You may wish to seek help in going through the grieving process associated with your loss. Or you may try to trivialize the magnitude of what has happened to you and deny your feelings. But then you would be denying the part of yourself that is experiencing the loss, the part of yourself that needs to bring the memory and heartfelt relationship into your heart in an everlasting and positive way.
I offer practical and very effective ways of dealing with loss. Much of the resolution and healing around loss occurs when we can release and honor the pain, suffering and grief that is associated with loss of identity and long held dreams. Through sacred ritual and ceremony, the loss that someone experiences will be honored and released.
Loss and grieving shows up in many ways. The most common being the loss of a loved one, a divorce, the loss of a job or the loss of a dream. There is also the subtle grief that we experience that may not be recognized as grief such as getting older, our children growing up or the loss of our youth. During this period in history, many folks are dealing with grief; both the obvious and the unobvious. In some ways it is as if a veil has been draped over our culture, covering up the deep despair that so many are feeling. How do we deal with all of this profound loss? Through loss counseling.
