Look up from your Life

workshop_image.jpgLook up from your Life! Sometimes when life gets to be too much, it can be difficult to look beyond the struggles and strain, and look up to notice all there is to be grateful for; the beautiful sunset or sunrise, another breath, the sweet fragrance of a flower, a smile from a stranger, or the smell of a baby.

When wrapped up in stress, it is as if we are in the webbing of a cocoon, unable to clearly see all of the possibilities. It’s when we slow down and purposely breathe, that options begin to appear and clarity expands our vision. Our heart’s “windshield” becomes clear of outdated beliefs, bias, prejudices, and anger. We step out into the world with a clean and shiny heart.

I spent last weekend at the coast and was reminded of the ever-changing ebb and flow of the waves. As I watched the birds floating on the incoming waves, occasionally they would disappear from sight, only to buoyantly bounce back up again. In ways, we are like the birds, bouncing along going with the ebb and flow of life, being knocked about and eventually finding our “center” again. Only to be bounced about again, finding our way back to home, back to center. It truly is a trip of a life time… if only we don’t take ourselves too seriously!
