In this day and age, most people live extremely busy lives and are hard pressed to find a minute of relaxation anywhere.  Instead of sitting down to long relaxing dinners with our family and friends like the Europeans, we are eating on the go, and popping pills when we can’t sleep or feel depressed. We often look for quick remedies to our problems that work as a band-aid and only cover up the issue temporarily rather than resolve the actual issue.  If you are experiencing severe amounts of stress or aches and pains in your body, you should see a specialist to help you out.

One of the best forms of stress-relief comes from acupuncture, an old ancient remedy that uses needles to stimulate various nerves in the body and help reduce stress.  You can find the best health advice and remedies like this from your trusted natural Osteopath London who will help you destress by pinpointing which areas in your body need extra work.  The best osteopaths can use several methods to treat problem areas you are facing such as pain in your back or neck areas.  They will use various different treatments to measure where you have excessive amounts of tension and then proceed to issue out various treatments to reduce those stress and tight areas.  Osteopaths can also help you after you have suffered from some sort of sports injury.

If you used to play a sport like football or basketball and now cannot play it due to an arm or leg injury, you need not worry and think your days of playing such sports are over.  You just need professional medical help to get you back on track and this will come in the form of contacting an osteopath who will determine what routes you need to take to get back in the best shape of your time.  You might only be experiencing a temporary muscle or ligament tear and they can be repaired over time providing you are following the right steps. An osteopath will try to get you to go to regular muscle therapy and rehabilitation sessions that will ensure you get the care you need.  Some will give you a medication or muscle pain reliever but the end goal is to have you take as little medication as possible so that you will not rely on such prescriptions for the rest of your life.

Your trusted osteopath can help transform your life for the better not only by rehabilitating you to a prime state prior to an injury but also by using various methods to improve your day to day lives making them less stress-inducing.

One of the most stressful times of the year is coming up – the Christmas holidays. Everyone knows what this means – parties, gatherings and festivities that are centrally focused around spending time with the family. If you are lucky and fortunate enough to have a good family life and loved ones who want to spend their holidays with you – it’s a season of cheer, joy and love. Unfortunately, millions of people spend these holidays alone and as a result, their health suffers.  Not only does their physical health level suffer due to over-eating or over-drinking, but primarily their mental health suffers as they feel distraught and alone throughout the holidays.

There are some solutions that may be helpful for people in this situation. They might consider joining a group online for people who will be spending the holidays alone – in this way they can meet other people and perhaps get a group together on Christmas day to enjoy a meal or two.  However, other people are depressed because they miss their family and loved ones or people they have lost in their lives. For this reason, they don’t want to put on a fake face and pretend everything is okay in a room full of strangers.  One of the most popular mental health magazine discusses how important it is to stay mentally well over the holidays. The magazine has several different articles that discusses your mental health and ways in which you can improve it by meditating and practicing yoga.

Writer and editor David Jones insists that “Many people underestimate the importance of small things like deep breathing and how it can affect our mental health. We are so obsessed with being in a rush all the time – running to our jobs – picking up the kids, etc.. that we totally forget to take care of ourselves. If you want to be mentally healthy and raise stable children, you need to focus on your own mental health.  Take time for yourself. Take 30 minutes every day to sit down and do some yoga and deep breathing.  The next time you are stressed, breath in and out for 5 minutes. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you can calm down and feel at ease once again”.

If you are deeply struggling with depression that is not just situational, you may need to see a therapist or psychiatrist.  It is important to stay mentally strong this holiday so that you do not become a statistic. Remember, time heals all wounds and the season will be over just as soon as it has begun. Keep well.

Years ago, if people suffered from a tumor or some serious medical disability, it was essentially a lost cause.  It didn’t matter how much medicine was taken or how much water drunk, if the doctor was uneducated about the disability or unable to see exactly what the problem was via the technology we have today, the patient would end up living a shorter life than expected.  It was a tragedy, but luckily, medical advances have changed the world and how we view illnesses.  While there are thousands of medical problems which are still being researched and have yet to find a cure, there have been incredible advances and understanding of neurology over the past twenty years.

People who suffer from problems in their brains and spines are lucky to have neurosurgeons at Bay Area Neurosciences treat and diagnose them.  Neurosurgery can change one’s life depending on the type of treatment necessary for the patient.  If someone has a tumor, there are a number of procedures the surgeon can take to help its removal.  In the best case scenario, a surgeon would be able to remove the tumor and not cause any damage to any brain tissue that surrounds the tumor. However, if the surgeon misdiagnoses the abnormality and it is not an actual tumor, much brain damage could further be caused to the patient.  If the tumor is found in a very sensitive area of the brain, a surgeon won’t be able to fully remove it.  But my removing parts of it, the patient can go on to lead a happier life as less pain, suffering and ache will be experienced.  There are new procedures and advancements in this field that medical professionals are thrilled about. Some of the latest advancements involve being able to operate and perform a surgery without having to use a knife.

The surgeons are able to use different types of brain scans to find out where the tumor lies in the brain exactly. After discovering this, they use a technique called radiosurgery and they can eradicate the tumor without even having to crack open the brain or skull using a knife.  This is an amazing advancement as it largely decreases the risk of “human error” while using a knife if the hand slips or is not steady at the time of the procedure.  As medical advancements continue to advance, medical professionals have high hopes that in future all surgical procedures will be done without the use of knives and can be performed at a 95% rate of accuracy.  In future, cancer may be a thing of the past if surgeons can identify where the tumor is without having to go under the knife.  We continue to look positively but at the moment are grateful for the current outstanding advancements.

Everyone knows that we are a nation of the overweight and obese. If you go to Europe, you are hard pressed to find obese people walking around like you do in the United States. And we are also very much sensitive these days of “fat shaming” because of decades of the media making women and girls (and men) feel embarassed of their bodies if they don’t meet societal standards. While this is beneficial to helping the emotional mindset and mental health of our nation, we are forgetting how fat can clog the arteries, suffocate the heart and cause us to have a large number of medical problems.

One patient of St. Peter’s hospital spoke out in a latest press release. She recently had a heart attack and needed to stay in the hospital for months of recovery. Her doctor then put her on a strict low carb hcg diet plan to help her lose weight around her waist and body because her arteries were clogged with fat. This woman was only 40 years old which made the situation all the worse. Her nutritionist and doctor estimated she was over 80 pounds overweight.  She was put on a 1200 calorie a day hcg diet in which carbohydrates were restricted and she was instructed to eat plenty of meat, fruits and vegetables.  She could only eat turkey and chicken or fish and was not allowed to eat any high fatty foods and meats. In order to meet her dietary requirements for fats, she was allowed small quantities of almonds, nuts and olive oil.  She had to eat 20 grams of fiber a day from sources like vegetables, fruits and take a fiber supplement.

She began this diet while still weak in the hospital and slowly lost 10 pounds over the course of 2 weeks. Once out of the hospital the doctor placed her on a low intensity exercise program for 21 days she had to complete over three weeks.  She continued the program and lost over 15 extra pounds in 3 weeks while still continuing her high protein, low fat and low sugar diet. After returning to the hospital for her check-up 4 months later, they were astounded by the results.  Her heart is no longer suffocated by excess fat and her arteries are much less clogged.  They say she still has 40 pounds to lose but are confident that with more hard work and sticking to her diet she will see amazing results and will no longer be at risk for heart attack and high blood pressure.  Taking care of your heart, body and soul is crucial to live a long and happy life.
